Today and yesterday in the morning, it has been freezing. My Dad has had to get op in the morning to melt the ice off the car and the grass is white with frost.

Last night I had a callback for the part of Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz”. I didn’t get the part of Dorothy but instead I got the part of Gloria which is probably better for me because I am quite busy with the school production. I am really happy with the part I got because I don’t have to learn a lot of lines but I still get a good part and a singing solo.

I had so much fun last friday at my birthday party!!

It as a great success and everyone had a lot of fun. We had a competition of who could do the girliest makeup and we watched a lot of movies. We had so much fun and I got some great pressies, like a lot of chocolate and some great stuff from Trade aid and other stores.

Some of the movies we watched were really good, like St Trinians and Angus, thongs and perfect snogging. We were mimicking St Trinians for ages afterwards. I had a great time and I can’t wait till monday when I turn thirteen!!

Wellington camp was sooooo fun!
We went to so many awesome places, like St Paul’s Cathedral, Picton, Weta workshops’ Weta Cave, Te Papa, The National Museum (where I saw my sister who I hadn’t seen in ages) and Capital E!! At Capital E we went to the soundhouse, where we made music and then made a video to go along with it. We also went to ONTV there which is a television studio where you make your own TV show. The soundhouse was definitely my favorite thing, we had an instructor named Kit who was a lot of fun and really hilarious. If you want to see some of the things that we made go onto www.capitale.org.nz.

Wellington camp was a lot of fun but really tiring so now I’m going to sleep all holidays.   dsc002111

I am so excited!!

In just a few days I am going to be on a bus to wellington, with my best friends… and the rest of my class mates, to stay there for a week. Wellington is the capital of New Zealand and it also has some great shops (not that we’ll have enough time to go shopping). We are going to be going full blast all week! Going to ONTV, going over to Picton in the South Island on the ferry, going to the wildlife sanctuary, going to the wellington museum and going to Te Papa!! And my sister (who lives in Welly) might be coming down to see me while we’re there!! It is going to be the best week of my life!!!

I cannot wait!! I promise I’ll tell you all about it when we get back!!

Designer Fun!! March 15, 2009

Today me and my best friend had so much fun!!!!

We were at Hayleighs house and we were thinking of things to do when she hitched her skirt up and said “We  should make our own designs out of our clothes!” I thought it was a great idea, so we raided her wardrobe and made awesome fashions by pulling skirts up to our chests, tucking long tops underneath them so that they peeped out the bottom and getting belts so tight that we could keep the skirts up that high without them falling down.

We ended up making two outfits that were so awesomely cool that we wanted to get our hair, accessories and make up to match. Sadly my mum came before we got around to doing makeup, but we still looked awesome!

Our hair was in (Lord of the Rings) elven style and we had accessories that went perfectly with our clothes. We loved our outfits so much that we even did a runway show for our parents and Hayleighs little brothers and her gorgeous boxer dog Biscuit. We had so much fun that next weekend I’m going to invite her to do the same thing but at my house because I have an even bigger supply of clothes! (You wouldn’t believe that if you saw how many clothes she has!)

How the Tui got her white tufts November 24, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — briari @ 7:30 am

Tui was a proud bird who boasted her brilliant singing voice far and wide.

She boasted of her brilliant tones, to anyone who would listen. So the story of her voice spread all through the forest that was her home until it met the jeears of the Red Robin, who was very proud of his singing.

When the robin heard about Tui, he immediately traveled to her part of the forest, and challenged her to a sing off.

The event was grand, with both birds giving their all and singing with new life and vigor. But it soon turned ugly when the judges made their verdict and ruled Tui better than Robin.

Robin flew into a terrible rage and started to tear at Tui and the judges. In his anger, he pulled out two of Tui’s beautiful dark green throat feathers and threw them across the treetops. The absence of the feathers revealed soft, white, curling plumage that poked through her green feathers, to form two beautiful white tufts.

To this day, those feathers serve as a reminder to Tui, as to why never to boast.
